Technical SEO Audit & Remediation

A site Googlebot couldn't navigate.

The client — a B2B procurement marketplace — had grown their platform organically over five years, accumulating significant technical debt. Multiple platform migrations, an unmanaged URL structure, and an unoptimised JavaScript rendering setup had resulted in a site that Google was crawling inefficiently and indexing incompletely.

Organic traffic had plateaued despite significant content investment. The content team was producing material that wasn't being discovered — not because it was poor, but because the crawl and indexation problems meant Googlebot wasn't finding it.

Diagnose before you fix.

  1. 01

    Full crawl analysis

Ran a full crawl using Screaming Frog, cross-referenced with Google Search Console data. Identified 340+ issues across redirect chains, duplicate content, orphaned pages, broken internal links, and crawl traps.

  2. 02

    Priority triage

Categorised all issues into four tiers: critical (crawl blocking), high (indexation impact), medium (ranking signal), low (hygiene). Produced a remediation roadmap with estimated effort and impact per fix.

  3. 03

    JavaScript rendering audit

Assessed the client-side rendering setup and identified key pages where content was not being indexed because Googlebot was not executing the JavaScript correctly. Worked with the dev team on a server-side rendering solution for critical category pages.

  4. 04

    Core Web Vitals improvement

Identified LCP and CLS issues across key landing pages. Worked with the frontend team to implement image optimization, lazy loading, and critical CSS improvements. LCP improved from 4.2s to 2.4s on key pages.

  5. 05

    Ongoing crawl monitoring

Set up automated crawl monitoring with weekly alerts for new critical issues. Delivered a monthly technical health report for six months post-remediation.

The content was always good. Now it gets found.

The remediation work produced immediate crawl and indexation improvements, followed by a sustained increase in organic visibility as previously unfound content began ranking. The client's content team had not changed their output volume — the same work was now reaching significantly more of the intended audience.
